Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne has long been depicted as a tranquil sand and palm
rimmed island lying in the lee of history. Its beauty is legendary,
its tropical complexion described by travelers in the early 1880's.
Yet recent discoveries and field work revealed that this low-lying
subtropical island played a high profile role in the coastal and
cultural development of Florida.
Something that we always knew here has been officially confirmed
by experts in the vacation business and that is that Key Biscayne
ranks in the top 5 permanent vacation spots in the United States
of America. The other four of the top five include Huntington Beach,
California; San Clemente, California; Sullivan's Island, South Carolina;
and Kailua, Hawaii. Many of us that have lived here for 40 years
or more and have traveled the United States and other destinations
throughout the world call the Key "home" knowing well
that we enjoy the best of every travel amenity as well as every
benefit of living in a safe, clean, world class community. This
is NOT Miami. This is not the crazy Miami Beach drive through all
night party, and this is not the South American Riviera. This is
a community that is a cross-section of peoples from all over the
world.
Compiling the top five list, Andrew Schiller, president of Location
Inc. (TM), a Ph.D. geographer studied America's 61,000 neighborhoods
using a proprietary analysis technique that utilizing a vast amount
of data using information from a variety of sources including government
agencies including the Census Bureau, the Department of Education
as well as the records of the FBI (The Federal Bureau of Investigation).
Schiller says " Permanent vacation spots are places that combine
many vacation qualities, like warm sunny weather, beaches and leisure
activities, with solid community attributes like top quality public
schools, low crime and educated neighbors".
"This is also the criteria important for many home buyers, especially
for those that are owner occupied during a part of the year- in
locations known for sun, surf and relaxation"
"People often want to move to a vacation spot, but rarely
do these places offer the qualities people look for in a permanent
or semi permanent home", said Schiller . " I discovered
five great options (including Key Biscayne) for real people that
combine the best of both worlds. These top five spots vary in price
and character, from quiet communities of shingled homes among sea
grass dunes, to high-rise condos, to lively boardwalk scenes, but
all five are near major cities, and are delightful places to consider
living in as well as top destinations for a mid-winter vacation,"
said Schiller.
We could not have said it better ourselves, except to add that
in another survey of the top 200 communities in which to live in
the United States, Key Biscayne is listed, as well as having two
of the top 10 beaches in the world.
